Tours for School Groups

If you are a teacher, school official, or group leader looking for an outdoor venue for nature-based education and a hands on experience, we offer tours for children and teens up to the age of 18. We are also equipped to work with kids with special challenges, but we do request that their helpers remain present at all times.

Bring your group to visit explore our farm and gardens while tasting seasonal produce and herbs. Enjoying learning about the history of the land, gaze over the Mount Newton Valley and Salish Sea, and marvel at ancient trees. Our tours are typically 1.5 hours: 1 hour is guided by one of our head farmers and the second hour allows you to explore the farm at your own pace (including bringing and enjoying a picnic lunch, drawing and art, watching or listening to the wildlife, or simply sitting and enjoying nature).


To know

Time: 1 hour tour + 30 minutes for you to explore the farm, take photos, or spend extra time with the animals.

Group size: up to 30 people. Larger groups are broken into 2 smaller groups and we provide 2 farmers to lead each group.

Food: light tasting of herbs, edible flowers, fruits, berries and vegetables - BASED ON SEASON.

Cost: $10 per person (minimum 12 people or a $120 charge). Total is due immediately upon confirmation payable by cheque, cash or e-transfer. If you cancel your event 2 weeks or more prior your date, you will receive a 50% refund. Failure to pay the amount owing in a timely manner may result in event cancellation.

Your fee is helping to ensure that we can continue to educate and inspire others to live as sustainably as possible. 100% of proceeds stay with the farm and help us to cover costs associated with our farm workers, project development, and land management.

Preschool - elementary school students

Feed and pet goats and chickens. Take a tour through an edible fairy tale landscape. Let your curiosity soar as you taste and learn about new plants. After your guided tour, enjoy a picnic on sunny slopes overlooking the ocean or have games and story time with your group leader.
Total time at Ravenhill is 1.5 hours.

Middle school -secondary school students

Learn about growing food, raising animals, or the history of the beautiful land and its special connection to the Coast Salish People. Or all 3. Enjoy visiting our goats and chickens. Tours can be custom-designed for your class, especially if there's something particular that you're studying in the classroom. After the tour, explore the land at your own pace, work on a school project, or enjoy a pack-lunch under a fruit tree. 
Total time at Ravenhill is 1.5 hours.

Hands-On DIY (do-it-yourself) Workshop

If you are interested in a longer tour (1-hour guided, 1-hour hands-on farm work, and 30-minute self-guided exploration), we ask that you contact us regarding the array of options and prices we have available. Depending on availability, you can choose from one of the following: herbal tea-making and tasting, herb harvesting, herbal bath bomb making, seed planting and growing, and more! Total time at Ravenhill is 2.5 hours.
